Students at Long Elementary work together to create interactive educational podcasts and take learning to a whole new level. Long Elementary Podcasts
Podcasting = Student Motivation
Podcasting at Long Elementary is a technology that is not only intriguing for teachers, but for our students as well.  Podcasting has given teachers a way to motivate students to read, write and share the stories they create.

It all Started With a Picture....
After students in Mr. Pantaleo’s fourth and fifth grade split classroom completed an author study on the children’s author Chris Van Allsburg, students used his picture book, Mysteries of Harris Burdick, as inspiration to write their own stories.  Mr. Pantaleo chose three stories to feature on the Podcast.  The student authors drew pictures to go along with the story and read their story for the Podcast.

One School, Many Stories
In order to involve everyone in the Podcast, only the introduction from the fourth and fifth graders stories were used.  After those stories are published, students in other grade levels subscribe to the Long Podcasts, listen to the stories, and then write what they think should happen next in the story.  This process will continue until every grade level has contributed to the story.
