Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.

Fabulous Friday at Long!

Today was a fabulous way to end September. It was our first Popcorn Day and the Popcorn Crew did a great job. What a wonderful smell!
Mrs. Denison’s first grade class officially met for the first time today and the other class changes occurred as well. It was a very smooth transition thanks to the Long School staff and community. We are excited to have this opportunity to give our younger learners more time with their teachers by reducing class sizes in Kindergarten and first grade.

Earlier this week, our GSRP students joined us. Mrs. Kubitz is keeping them very busy!

Soft Start Childcare Program Flier

Jump Start:  This program will take place August 23, 24 and 25 from 9:00 to 12:00. During this time children will have an opportunity to meet teachers and staff, explore their classroom, and visit other areas of the school including the gym, art room and cafeteria.  The focus will be on introducing them to school routines and helping them feel more comfortable so that the first few weeks of kindergarten are positive and successful.

If you did not receive a letter for this program but feel your child would benefit, please email me at jakubuv@dearbornschools.org.

Enjoy the rest of the break!
